To find the way, close your eyes, listen closely, and attend with your heart.
Search for XANADU on the internet and you will be hit by a mass of pictures of Olivia Newton John, but the true life story behind the word dates back much further and in greater depth than the stage show or any other musical references. The Legend of XANADU has been a mystery for many years, and has been referred to in song lyrics since Dave Dee in 1968, through to the name of an estate in the Citizen Kane Film, as a world of fantasy and make believe.
Some may say that it is a place of paradise, like a place of Heaven on Earth. It can be imagined that if it existed, that it could be added to one of the Great Wonders on the World. Samuel Taylor Coleridge wrote a poem " A Vision in a Dream", inspired by what Marco Polo had seen there on his travels.
It has a link to both spiritual philosophers and scientists alike, because of its uniqueness.
Between 1275-1278 AD, Marco Polo visited XANADU, and wrote about parks, fountains, rivers, brooks, all types of wild animals, silks, marble and cane palaces, within the confines of 16 miles, as reiterated by the excavations.
Since 2002, an undertaking was made to excavate XANADU which was discovered at CAMBALU, about 168 miles North of what we understand today as BEIJING, China. It was dated back to when it was destroyed and spanned 16 miles.
XANADU was commissioned by Kublai Khan, the emperor of Mongolia at the time.
Kublai Khan embraced the Spiritualism of a younger, but gifted DROGON CHOGYAL PHAGPA, who was a Clairvoyant and Visionary from an early age. He passed these skills onto Kublai Khan, as then reflected in the building of XANADU. It was the gift of immortality, as belief was from Kublai Khan, that Phagpa was re-born and immortal. The moving of the physical body in certain ways, would bring about changes in energies, now loosely based on Chakras for alignments. Natural electric currents in the human being system, but much deeper ones, which lead onto full spiritual awakening.
Phagpa was looked on by Kublai Khan as a form of Spiritual messenger, and seen as a Spiritual Leader to Tibet, he was held in high esteem and was given the position as the head of the Buddhist Monks in Yuan by Kublai Khan.
Phagpa although only in his teenage years, at the time bestowed to the Emperor a list of Dharmas, like instructions, as forms of Buddhism teachings, to enable the understanding of Karma and re-birth. A "sense" to be found, as we know it, in the Heart Chakra, which in effect Kublai Khan used as part of his Spiritual undertakings through Buddhism.
In 1977, the Canadian Band RUSH, lyrically mentioned the River Alph.." to walk the caves of Ice....", which is in Antartica. They seemed to give some insight into a vision of the future, and in 2006, the International Astronomical Union (IAU), named an area of Saturn's moon TITAN as “Xanadu” re-iterating the emphasis on this comparative perfect paradise taken to a futuristic level. It has mountains of ice and flowing rivers, (but not water),more like dunes, and is similar to Earth, and is said that it could be habitable in the future therefore giving it the status of a visionary place with a global ocean under the surface.
Today, as we embrace and deal with our daily lives, there is a guidance from teachings given over the centuries such as those followed by Kublai Khan:
1. Today I will lovingly nurture the god or goddess in embryo that lies deep within my soul. I will pay attention to the spirit within me that animates both my body and my mind. I will awaken myself to this deep stillness within my heart.
I will carry the consciousness of timeless, eternal being in the midst of time-bound experience.
2. I will make a list of my unique talents. Then I will list all the things that I love to do while expressing my unique talents.
When I express my unique talents and use them in the service of humanity,
I lose track of time and create abundance in my life as well as in the lives of others.
3. I will ask myself daily, “How can I serve?” and “How can I help?”
The answers to these questions will allow me to help and serve my fellow human beings with love.
